What’s Next for Portland Catering in 2021?
As 2020 (finally) comes to a close, it is safe to say that we all want 2021 to fare better. As challenging as this year has been, we are hopeful that the new year will bring new solutions and a new sense of normalcy. It is our hope that all those in the Portland catering industry, as well as those who rely on our services, are blessed with a better year.
Although things may, at times, feel utterly disheartening and bleak, we have many reasons to believe that things will turn out for the best. It is through the brilliance of human ingenuity, creativity, and adaptability that we have hope that, although things may look different moving forward, they will be brilliant all the same.
The Future of Events & Weddings | Portland Catering 2021
Even though we don’t have the ability to see into the future, we thought we would have a bit of fun and predict what the future of Portland catering may look like. Even without the mind-reading abilities, we can say for sure that Portland will overcome the adversity it has faced economically during this pandemic and emerge even more ‘Portland’ than ever before.
Creativity & Flexibility
Portland is one of the most creative cities in the world. Portland catering is no exception, either. Not only are our own menus creative and adaptable, so too are our abilities to work around challenges and try new ways of doing things — especially when it comes to food.
COVID-19 has introduced masks, social distancing, and other protocols that have all impacted food preparation and presentation. We have always been up for the challenge. Moving forward, we can say Portland catering, as a whole, will adapt to these new norms with all the creativity and flexibility you might expect.
New Venues & Set-Ups
It’s possible that summer weddings will become even more popular than ever. Regardless of the season, we are relatively lucky up here in the PNW in terms of outdoor wedding weather.
Save for a little rain, the temperature doesn’t drop too much, making it easy to have outdoor weddings. There is no doubt that outdoor weddings that allow for a little more social distancing will take precedence next year, making summer even busier than ever for Portland catering companies and the wedding industry as a whole.
Elopements, Elopements, Elopements!
You’ve likely already seen this trend pop up on your social media feeds. It is no secret that elopements have been a HUGE hit this year. A lot of couples opted for smaller, intimate weddings with far fewer guests than they imagined. To their surprise, many couples will tell you that they preferred their elopement over an extravagant wedding and wouldn’t change a thing.
Reimagined Expectations
By now, most of us accept that life will never be the same — at least not for a little while longer. If you are planning your wedding for 2021, you’ve already had to adjust your expectations from prior planning. Or, you knew from the start of your engagement that, perhaps, a big wedding is a bit far off. Although adjusting our expectations can be painful at first, reimagining a new future can be exciting and exhilarating, too. Memorable moments can be made just as enjoyable — it may just take a little innovation to get there.
