Never underestimate the love a man has for his pig.

Especially if the pig facilitates survival.

Pig is an upcoming film that features Nicolas Cage as the lead role of Rob, a hunter living in isolation deep within the Oregonian wilderness. His only companion? A forging pig.

Much like ‘Wilson’ in Castaway, the beloved pig serves as an anchor to reality amid a secluded existence. As a partner in what most would consider a lonely life, the beloved pig makes daily living a little more bearable. That is, until the pig is kidnapped.

The story told in Pig centers around Rob’s venture into Portland, as he desperately tries to locate his lost comrade.

Mundo Catering was there on set to keep actors and crew members full through long days of shooting. With a host of unique characters and a one-of-a-kind story, this is one project we won’t soon forget.

Cage isn’t the only familiar face you will find in this film. Fans of the 2018 horror hit Hereditary, will be glad to know that Alex Wolff will co-star alongside Cage in the film.

In conjunction with Pulse Films, BlockBox Entertainment, and Cage’s own Saturn Pictures, writer and director Michael Sarnoski brought Pig to life.

Bringing Pig to the Big Screen

Sarnoski has worked on various TV shows, documentaries, and films as an editor, writer, director, and producer. His talents are well-recognized by collaborators on the project.

According to an interview with Deadline, Thomas Benski, CEO of Pulse Films, had this to say about the director:

“Michael’s vision for Pig is a true testament of his unique voice as a writer/director, and one that we can’t wait to introduce to audiences across the world. Having such an incredible cast attached, led by Nicolas Cage and supported by Alex Wolff, speaks directly to the special nature of the story Michael and Vanessa have devised. At Pulse Films, our focus has always been to work with the best talent and bring forward the best stories, Pig represents precisely that. We are thrilled to be working with such great partners on this project.” -Thomas Benski, Deadline Interview

In the same interview, Sarnoski relayed his gratitude towards the cast, crew, and talent involved in bringing Pig from short story to movie script:

”What began as a very personal project has transformed into a labor of love for so many talented people. I’m thrilled for us all to be bringing this strange world to life.” -Michael Sarnoski, Deadline Interview

When & Where Can I Watch Pig?

It is no secret that COVID-19 has stalled the film industry, along with its community of actors, directors, caterers, and creatives. Although IMDB.com has Pig scheduled for release sometime in 2020, there is little known about the official release date and whether or not it will be sent straight to streaming, as many other feature films of 2020 have already elected to do.

Speaking of COVID-19, one of the highlights of the nationwide quarantine was the release of the Netflix documentary series Tiger King. If you haven’t already heard, Nicolas Cage is set to star as the eccentric, loose cannon ‘Joe Exotic’ in the upcoming film. Variety was the first to break the news back in early May. You can read more about the new Tiger King film HERE.
